Portrait Photography Isn't Just For People

Creating images of those you love goes beyond just people.

Horse (or Equine) photography is a great way to create images of your best friend that you will cherish forever. The connection between a horse and their owner is a bond that can't be broken. As a horse owner myself, my horse is my baby. Why not create a portrait session just to photograph you and your horse!?

Capture that gentle spirit, or maybe that fire and energy that is in your horses eye. But no matter what, each photograph will represent your bond with your horse.

A favorite of mine is the photograph horses where they are the star of the show. No frills, no busy background, just your horse. A way that I like to accomplish this is to photograph your horse with a clean black background, and often times convert the image to black and white. This is an artistic choice but I believe this leaves the focus on the horse and their personality and doesn't leave room for distraction. There is usually a stillness that comes with black and white photography too. I also love to be able to show the connection between you and your horse and so at your portrait session, you will also be included in the images! You two are what makes the partnership work and your bond should be documented.

As a photographer in North Carolina, Spring and fall are perfect times for horse photography. It's not too hot outside (like it is in the summer) and your horse hasn't grown out their winter coat yet either.
